Job Profile Summary: Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team. Works within a Specialty Care team, in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of the treatment team ensuring continuity of patient care in all settings. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.
Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Provides clinical care for patients
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
- Participates in health care team
- Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
- Acts as resource to members of the team.
- Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients.
- Works with primary care team for program development.
- Participates in research activities when opportunity available.
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. required
- 2 to 5 years 3 years experience post Nurse Practitioner training strongly preferred. preferred
- Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire and
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) required Certification within specialty upon hire
- BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire
- ACLS/BLS Tier 2-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Multisource preferred
- Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required

Allina Health has a robust Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line that offers the full continuum of care including integration, specialty outpatient clinics, addiction and co-occurring services, partial hospitalization and day treatment, and inpatient care. There are more than 290 mental health and addiction clinicians dedicated to the highest quality patient care across 45 primary care clinics, 6 integrated psychiatry locations, 4 hospital-based clinics, 12 partial and day treatment programs, 15 Allina and affiliated Emergency Departments, and 7 hospitals with 305 inpatient beds. The Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line is led by both psychiatry and psychology clinical leadership, in partnership with operations to advance mental health care for patients across Allina Health.
