We are currently seeking an experienced Proposal Writer to join our Business Development and Marketing team! We are open to this being in any of our offices or a remote/hybrid position.
The Proposal Writer is responsible to the Director of Business Development, Partners, CEO and COO. The Proposal Writer will be responsible for managing the proposal process and will include creating compliant and articulate proposals to aide in business development and sales throughout the firm.
What Your Day Will Look Like:
- Effectively prepare and complete the proposal process including intake, planning, drafting, submission and follow up.
- Create and manage proposal templates to streamline and continuously improve the RFP process.
- Oversee RFP qualifications and due dates, and develops proposal materials for RFP's.
- Develop, maintain and when needed, communicate, project plan/schedule.
- Engage with others throughout the firm to complete projects including, Partners, leadership and Subject Matter Experts, as required.
- Track proposal metrics to show successes and losses, as well as timeline of renewing RFP’s and communicates this to firm leadership.
- Act as a consistent creative, motivated, confident, proactive, tech savvy, team player who can juggle a variety of assignments within a fast-paced environment, while continually bringing fresh ideas to the brand via continuous innovation in the areas of lead generation and brand communication.
- Edit and proofreads letters, reports and other marketing and practice development materials.
- Assist with and delivers business development and marketing training to staff in concert with Director of Business Development.
- Marketing & Sales
- Assist in the creation and implementation of the firm’s communication strategy.
- Collaborate and work with other members of the marketing team to increase brand awareness and enhance new business growth.
- Travel and Events
- Represent Brown Edwards at key networking events and business expos/trade shows if needed. Assists with seminar, webinar and sponsorships, as appropriate. Participates in various association and civic groups. Creates and updates firm-wide calendar noting key networking events in all markets.
- Travel to various Brown Edwards offices as needed for meetings, functions, events, etc.
What You Need to Be Successful in this Role:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, English or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail, grammar and proofing.
- 1+ year of proposal writing, communications or other closely related experience.
- Certification with the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP), a plus.
- Experience in a professional services environment preferred.
- Experience working with, Canva, Hubspot, Adobe or other proposal management software, preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Office Suite experience.
- Solid understanding of the professional services industry, preferably public accounting
- Strong editing, formatting and organization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the firm – both with individuals and, at times, in front of a group.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Ability to take on projects with little supervision and occasionally with strict time constraints.
- Exercise self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the external and internal customers.
