We are currently looking for a Proposal Manager to manage the development and submission of proposals for our Midwest region, and for other regions around the U.S. as needed. Reporting to the Director of Proposals, this position will be based in our Nashville office and will be a member of the company’s corporate marketing team.Responsibilities:
- Analyze RFPs/RFQs and similar enquiries and ensure that responses meet all requirements while adhering to Cumming standards for branding and quality.
- Continually look for ways to improve the quality of our proposal submissions, as well as our proposal tools and processes.
- Collect and organize proposal-related information, including project descriptions, resumes, proposal language, and more. This information should be kept up-to-date, well-written, sensibly organized, cleanly formatted, and easily accessible to the entire proposal team.
- Help to enforce Cumming’s go/no-go process with the goal of allocating resources to the highest probability pursuits.
- Manage and lead simultaneous proposal responses from start to finish. Expect anywhere from two to five proposals ongoing at any given time, with varying deadlines and requirements.
- Demonstrate discretion, judgment, and wisdom when communicating with clients, partners, and colleagues.
- Read, understand, and communicate RFP content clearly and intelligently.
- Work with team members across the company, as well as teaming partners, to develop required proposal information.
- Produce work of the highest quality and accuracy. Produced materials should be well-written, cleanly and consistently designed, and give off an overall impression of expertise, good taste, and professionalism.
- Research and write original material, including project descriptions, resumes, technical language, and more. Writing should be clear and compelling, while adhering to company standards and style.
- Edit materials produced by proposal team members, with an eye toward clarity, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to RFP requirements.
- Work successfully under multiple strict deadlines.
- Provide any kind of necessary support — including formatting documents and packaging and shipping/delivering proposal packages — to the proposal effort as needed.
- Perform other duties associated with the above responsibilities, as well as additional duties assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s Degree in (or higher) in English, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or equivalent is preferred.
- At least three years of proposal management experience is required.
- Experience in the A/E/C industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledgebase administration and graphic editing skills are preferred.
- Must be proficient in Windows, Word, Adobe InDesign, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel is preferred.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, especially Deltek, is preferred.
- Must exhibit strong leadership qualities, develop, and nurture internal relationships, and be able to earn the trust and respect of team members at all levels throughout the company.
- Exercise tact and judgement at all times.
- Work must always be of the highest quality, and you must be detail-oriented, quick, accessible, reliable, knowledgeable, and adaptable.
