The Opportunities Support Group in the NI Global Sales organization is seeking an experienced Senior Group Manager for our Austin, TX office to work on documentation projects and manage a five-member multi-regional team who produce a variety of legal documents, proposals, and engagement reports related to Professional Services projects. Professional Services projects are for test and measurement applications in customer industries including transportation; aerospace, defense, government (ADG); semiconductor; and telecommunications.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Documentation Specialist Team
- Manage team members against role expectations including review work product, setting annual goals, and conducting performance conversations.
- Assess project requests, make resource assignments, manage team project priorities, and track and report metrics.
- Monitor project complexities and recommend contingency plans or adjustments; advise on addressing obstacles; serve as first escalation point from team to applicable project stakeholders.
- Promote and drive culture of continuous improvement, including team training and development for career growth at NI.
- Manage new hire recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- Personal execution of all tasks related to assigned Professional Services document projects.
- Develop and update training materials applicable to agreement, and other topics.
- Manage development of and updates to workflow processes and related documentation.
- Identify efficiency gain opportunities, propose related plan, and execute against approved plan.
- Stay abreast of, and react appropriately to, changes from other teams and departments affecting Professional Services Documentation projects, priorities, and processes.
- Develop strong, positive working relationships with department and cross functional colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree
- Eight (8) years of professional, full-time work experience:
- Hands-on experience editing, writing, and styling documents with technical/engineering subject matter.
- Experience coordinating and managing documentation processes.
- Experience presenting to and training cross-functional colleagues.
- General understanding of procurement processes.
- Three (3) years of supervisor/group manager experience
- Manager/Supervisor/Team Lead experience with technical writers, editors, and production staff.
- Coaching, developing, and advising team members.

Must be able to access, review, and process ITAR-classified information (e.g., have U.S. Person designation).
- Available for light U.S. or international travel as required (approx. 10-15% annually).
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred degree: Bachelor of Science with majors, core areas of study, or certifications in:
- Business or Technical Communications, Technical Writing/Editing, Communications, English.
- Additional preferred work experience:
- High-tech, larger corporate environment
- Directly managing project assignments, status, and metrics for documentation projects.
- Editing engineer-authored content targeted for mixed target audiences.
- Working specifically on proposals for professional or system integration services, contracts (agreements) such as statements of work, other general services agreements, and related terms and conditions.
- Hands-on working with contracts for aerospace, government, and defense.
- Hands-on work responding to customer-provided (i) Tenders; (ii) Requests for Information (RFIs); (iii) Requests for Proposals (RFPs); and (iv) Requests for Quotes.
- NI product-systems knowledge; and industries our customers work in.
- Additional preferred computer and software application skills:
- Sales Force; Kimble or other Sales Force project management and time tracking tool.
