Overview
We are seeking an experienced project safety representative to oversee the site safety on a recurring environmental / industrial project. This person is responsible for implementing and enforcing job site safety while acting as a resource for internal and external customers to provide a safe working environment and protect the company from liability.
Role and Responsibilities
- Coordinates, conducts, and tracks site specific training requirements and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, job site safety plans, and company policies.
- Partners with the Regional Safety Coordinator to communicate findings, needs, trends, and opportunities on the job site and conducts training when needed.
- Manages job-related injuries to ensure the injured employee receives proper medical treatment and investigates job related incidents to identify and address root cause(s).
- Collaborates with superintendents, foreman, and other contractors to share best safety practices, provide guidance, inspect, or recommend equipment, provide alerts, and foster safe working practices to minimize risk.
- Acts as the company safety contact to the client and/or owner and serves as first point of contact for addressing safety-related project questions and responds proactively.
- Performs site safety assessments and inspections and partners with the Regional Safety Coordinator to identify trends, problem solve, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry required
- General understanding and working knowledge of environmental contracting business.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory standards.
- Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management.
- Must be multi-task oriented and have strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills and to manage multiple departmental priorities and requirements.
- Ability to gather data, analyzes issues, generate alternative courses of action; research best practices and make recommendations to overcome organizational obstacles.
- Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
- Ability to travel overnight as required by business needs.
- Valid driver’s license.
Per our client, the Site Safety Representative must meet a minimum of one of the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety with a minimum of five (5) years of large project experience in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience on a large project in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional and be current with the OSHA 500/502 Training Course.
- A CHST designation with a minimum of five (5) years in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional.
