Job Description
The SpaceTech Scholars Program (Program) is a five (5) year U.S. DOE grant requiring the appointment of a full-time Project Manager. The Project Manager is a federally funded position reporting to the SpaceTech Project Director (PD) to ensure the Program is conceptualized, implemented, sustained, and evaluated throughout each yearly grant cycle. The Project Manager’s position sustainability is dependent on federal funding.

The Project Manager of the SpaceTech Scholars Program will create an operational manual in the first year of the grant life cycle documenting the vision, goals, strategies, and tactics as proposed and developed for all phases of the Program – from implementation to conclusion and assessment. The Project Manager will also document each method and strategy used to sustain this program as well of the daily operations and outcomes of this grant. Further, the Project Manager will work with grant personnel and other community stakeholders to recruit and mentor primarily Hispanic students as well as students from other demographics into a Program developed Aerospace Engineering Technician (AET) degree pathway. The Project Manager will also work closely with the Program’s PD and co-PI to champion the AET as a means to educate and train college students seeking to become professional aerospace technicians. Duties/Responsibilities
  • Completing Grant Requirements: The Project Manager of the SpaceTech Scholars Program will work closely with grant personnel to complete the goals of this grant. This includes creating an operational manual in the first year that details each step of the process from outreach to advising and lessons learned. MSU Denver’s new linked learning community for students pursuing a degree in the aerospace / aeronautics or engineering fields with the goal of becoming a technician, will be overseen by the project coordinator who will report to the project director. The Project Manager will finalize scholarship/stipend strategy and criteria for award and create outreach strategies. The Project Manager will also connect interested students with coordinator to enroll in AET pathway.
  • Outreach: Develop summer camp materials and structure with grant personnel. Develop outreach plan that focuses on building diversity in this field. Implement summer camps with the grant personnel. Establish concurrent enrollment agreements with the PI and MSU Denver leadership.
  • Operations: The Project Manager will work closely with MSU Denver/grant personnel to make sure that procedures are in place to assure smooth operations as students are recruited, trained, and supported in this program. This means having broad oversite regarding the daily operations and program development.

  • Master’s degree in a related field
