Content Development Project Lead
Position Summary
This position manages the development and implementation process for the content development aspects of some of Learning A-Z’s product-related projects, with the end goal of ensuring the Content Development teams deliver quality deliverables on time, on budget, and within scope. For assigned projects, the Content Development Project Lead coordinates internal and external development teams, focused on delivering new K-5 student and teacher content for Learning A-Z products or upgrading existing content.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze, coordinate, and collaborate with the Content Development project team leads to implement the content aspects of a project plan and process
Serve as the Content Development point of contact for the enterprise level Project Manager and Product Manager for a project or lead a project if main focus is on content development for assigned projects and provides relevant information and reports to enterprise level Project Manager as needed
Monitor the project from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules based on analysis of the content to develop
Determine resources needed to complete a project and how to scale to get work done within timeframe and to meet project objectives; including leading the effort to identify and onboard vendor or contractors with support from team leads and project coordinator as needed
Provide effort and time estimates for resources needed to build content to the enterprise Project Manager
Work closely with project editorial leads and product managers to create and communicate project / product vision, guidelines, exemplars, and expectations to internal / external teams and evaluate compliance to those project standards.
Work with team leads to ensure a plan is in place for training the internal team members and external vendor or contractor as needed
Monitor budget and spending for the content development aspects of the work and review findings at a regular cadence with team leads and the enterprise Project Manager
Organize and lead Content Dev meetings and needed activities for assigned projects
Assume day-to-day responsibility for ensuring completion of the content aspects of assigned projects on schedule and within budget constraints.
May support on creating, maintaining, tracking, and managing small projects and activities related to maintaining content on existing product sites
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2-3 years of content development and editorial management experience
or Associates degree and minimum 3-5 years of content development experience and editorial management experience
and 2-3 years of project management experience in the fields of educational publishing, EdTech, or media.
Required/Essential Skills
Knowledge of and experience in applying best practices in project management related to developing content
Knowledge of and experience with approaches for analyzing development needs to determine internal and external resources needed to build content along with ways to structure content project teams
Experience with cost estimation for creation of content deliverables as well as developing and maintaining content development budgets
Knowledge of and experience with creating content development workflows and schedules containing a variety of dependencies and complexities
Experience with projects being developed using content management systems and knowledge of project management systems
Strong analytical skills, with ability to identify risks, and to proactively problem-solve
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate in cross functional teams while holding team members accountable
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to quickly grasp complex information along with ability to focus on details while keeping in mind the big picture
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects with tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
Strong competency in Google Drive systems and Microsoft 365 products, including Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Teams are required; along with being skilled in file management and in tools for organizing and presenting information
Experience in a technical, software, ed-tech, or publishing related field preferred with knowledge of hybrid development approaches along with familiarity with Agile and waterfall approaches.
Preferred Skills
Certification in Project Management or actively working on Project Management certification
