Three (3) Project Coordinator positions will be hired to assist with planning, implementation and tracking of project activities for a new COVID-19 Ambassador program focused on hiring community members to promote CCHS COVID-19 testing, vaccination and community best practices for safety, primarily for communities that are underserved or experiencing a surge in cases. The Project Coordinators will oversee education and health promotion activities for the COVID-19 Ambassador Program in the Central, East and West regions of the County and coordinate multiple program elements including advising Ambassadors on health education and preventive health principles, the techniques of community organization and strategies to support new and existing community-based partner outreach efforts. The COVID-19 Ambassadors will assist with leading outreach throughout the county to promote testing and vaccinations. The Project Coordinators will track project objectives; coordinate the activities of the Ambassadors; and perform related work as required.
The position is funded through June 2021.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans, conducts, and evaluates the health education and health prevention aspects of the COVID-19 Ambassador Project.
- Coordinates multiple project elements in phases and regions as assigned.
- Coordinates various civic groups, community agencies, businesses, schools, and concerned individuals to encourage interest in the promotion of public health.
- Represents the department with various community organizations and citizen committees.
- Reviews promotions for literacy level and cultural competency.
- Maintains and distributes health educational material to Ambassadors and the general public as appropriate.
- Prepares visual aids and display materials.
- Conducts needs assessments and prepares reports and recommendations on community health needs and services available to meet them.
- Organizes and arranges for discussion groups on priority health issues and barriers.
- Publicizes health programs and services through various media.
- Evaluates reports on health education services and educational programs.
- Directs and coordinates relevant training activities as needed.
- Provides and promotes excellent internal and external customer service.

Education/Experience
Education: Possession of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Health, Health Services Administration, Social Work, Health Education, Education, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Nutrition or a closely related field.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time, or its equivalent, experience which included direct responsibility for performing health promotion, health prevention, or community health education work.
Substitution
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in any of the aforementioned fields and two (2) years of full-time experience in a health care organization, public health agency or community program performing administrative or program management duties may be substituted for the master's degree requirement. One (1) additional year of experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required academic major. No substitution is permitted for a bachelor's degree.
