To support this direction Microsoft created Azure Government, a community cloud for U.S. state, local, and federal government agencies. This investment represents a significant expansion of the Azure business by supporting the unique compliance, security, and operating requirements of the customer: federal and state, local agencies.
As a Program Manager (PM) on the Azure Government Mission Platform engineering team, you will focus on helping us ensure we have the platform capabilities our customers need to meet their mission objectives securely while leveraging world class modern technology. In doing so, you enable the success of new and existing customers on Azure Government including our classified cloud regions. You will work with our teams who define security and compliance needs, educate regulators/customers, build partner ecosystems, understand market needs, design services and anything else required to unlock the government market to Azure. This is an opportunity to work across the full spectrum of engineering activities for a Hyper Scale Cloud and win a market.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, a passion for customer service and be able to quickly trouble shoot and resolve issues. The candidate must be self-motivated, able to prioritize work quickly and appropriately in an ambiguous environment.Responsibilities
  • Lead Program Management efforts and partner with Engineering team in the implementation and maintenance of IT systems at scale
  • Develop and monitor standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Ability to drive execution of a holistic Information Technology Program across multiple project managers, teams, and organizations – ensures ownership accountability to the GM/CVP level
  • Disseminates a common project culture and mindset by informing, communicating and training teams about techniques, methodologies and best practices
  • This role will drive for the definition of policy, implementation procedures, and solutions required to help Microsoft scale our US Government engagements; protecting our employees and overall programs
  • Develop policies and procedures that align delivery and approach across cross-Microsoft Engineering
QualificationsRequired Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a technical Program Manager
  • Minimum 3 years of security, software development, or networking and infrastructure management experience
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Applied experience with encryption, compute and storage isolation, networking, and application security
  • Exceptional communication skills are expected
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
  • Self-managing leader who takes initiative
  • Up to 20% travel may be required
The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.


  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Desired Qualifications
  • Understanding of network operation and troubleshooting, as well as use of associated tools.
  • Aptitude for learning and rapidly mastering new applications and technology.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritizing rapidly changing task assignments.
  • Knowledge of government system security requirements and approval processes
