What you will be doing:
This position will be responsible for managing projects necessary to implement workforce goals and objectives, including procuring and managing grants and contracts to provide services to enhance public health workforce in DPH and public health/healthcare/behavioral health workforce statewide. The position will coordinate with Alaska’s SHARP Program to enhance outreach and utilization of healthcare workforce incentive programs.

To be successful in the position the candidate will need the following core competencies:
- Performance Measurement: Knowledge of the principles and methods for evaluating program or organizational performance using financial and non-financial measures, including identification of evaluation factors (for example, workload, personnel requirements), metrics, and outcomes.
- Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
- Partnering: Considerable experience working with state/Tribal/community health to develop networks and build alliances. Collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals. Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
- Program Planning: Ensures state/Tribal/community health improvement planning uses community health assessments and other information related to the health of a community (e.g., current data and trends; proposed federal, state, and local legislation; commitments from organizations to act)). Develops program goals and objectives.
- Public Health: Considerable knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing, and responding to diseases.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
AND
Three years of professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program. This experience must have included administrative authority over program/project funding, staff, and overall operations.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
Four years in any combination of post-secondary education from an accredited college (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of work experience) and technical or professional experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and procedures for a program, project, business, or organization, may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. There is no substitution for the required three years of professional experience.
OR SUBSTITUTION:
A master’s degree from an accredited college in a field closely related to the specific field of the program may substitute for up to two years of the required experience (2 semester hours or 3 quarter hours equal one month of experience).
