SUMMARY:
The Production Support Engineering Technician will support the Production Support Engineers with the updating, creation, and improvement of design for manufacture (DFM) documentation. This position will also play a significant role in supporting both the product engineering and manufacturing teams ensuring redlines are accurate and processed quickly. Additionally, this position will support the Production Support Engineers with writing updates to manufacturing work instructions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Update 3D DFM documentation, which shows the steps required to assemble subassemblies
- Help identify assembly procedure improvements
- Propose engineering changes to increase manufacturability, reduce cost, and/or reduce defect rates
- Generate redlines in coordination with manufacturing, and ensure product changes are incorporated into engineering documentation
- Provide manufacturing support by answering engineering questions and requests
- Document process controls/capabilities and suggest areas for improvement
- Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years working in a manufacturing/engineering environment
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience creating technical documentation
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working ability with 2D and 3D CAD software
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, BOMs, manufacturing documentation systems, and other related material
- Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally and externally with vendors
- Ability to develop technical reports and present technical material
- Understanding of 6-sigma principles for us in process control/capability preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing laboratory, and support areas such as production, test, and stockroom.
- The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, touch, see, and hear. The incumbent may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions. Must be able to work on production floor, laboratory in the field or at customer site without physical impediments. Vision correctable to 20/20 and ability to hear with corrective devices.
