Job Description

Tarpstop is a Midwest U.S.A.-based manufacturer of flat-bed tarps and tarping systems. We have four locations to serve our customers and a great selection of tarpaulin and cargo control products. Shipping nationwide from several locations and offering onsite service and installations is just a part of our amazing customer service experience!

We are looking for a Fabrication/Welding Shift Supervisor to join our team. This is a 2nd shift Position. We’re looking for a candidate who is a quick learner to fill an opening at our facility located in Talyor, Michigan. This is a working supervisor position, meaning this supervisor will also be responsible for the manufacturing and fabrication of our tarping systems. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, hands-on experience with hand and power tools, and strong attention to detail. You must be team-oriented, punctual, and enjoy meeting challenges with a desire to succeed. The right candidate will have a fabrication background, and 3-5 years of supervisor experience.

Overall Description

Provides direction to and oversees Fabrication Team Members achieve the daily production and quality requirements. Ensures proper procedures, policies and methods are being followed while maintaining profitability and a professional, safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Sales Department and Branch Manager on a daily basis to determine customer requirements and production demands
  • Works to improve production efficiencies to maximize productivity and throughput
  • Ensures production quality and order accuracy expectations are being met
  • Ensures staff performance is in line with company expectations, and that company policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensures shop cleanliness and maintenance expectations are being met
  • Performs general machine/building maintenance on items in the shop
  • Initiates and maintains training program to develop new and tenured employees
  • Initiates corrective action procedures when necessary
  • Maintains and fosters a positive and professional work environment
  • Conducts employee reviews and sets goals for department team members
  • Works with Branch Manager and Human Resource Manager on employee discipline, hiring and onboarding new employees as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • High regard for quality, accuracy, and safety
  • Ability to read a tape measure as well as add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions
  • Minimal overnight and offsite travel may be required
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Ability to manage and develop personnel
  • Good communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Should be an expert in all production processes
  • Lead by example

Experience:

  • Supervising: 3 years (Preferred)

  • Forklift/ Scissors lifts: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Ability to read a tape measure: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Welding aluminum MIG welder you have?: 3 years (Required)
