Chemsolv represents over 100 manufacturers of industrial chemical, silicones, solvents, lubricants, metalworking fluids, and other specialty products.
We are now hiring a Production Manager in the Roanoke, VA office.
The Production Manager is responsible for the day to day operational planning process and the related production schedules while ensuring employees meet company standards for safety, security, and productivity.
- Oversees the scheduling and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders across all branch operations.
- Monitors actual blending/manufacturing process to assure that product formulas and specified blending instructions are adhered with and product quality meets specifications.
- Based on product demand and forecasts, coordinates with purchasing regarding the timing of purchase requirements and due dates.
- Efficiently schedules orders to minimize setup and cleanup time for vessels and filling lines.
- Oversees the reviews of customer orders and generates production schedules.
- Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Ensures daily completion of inbound receiving documents, drumming reports, bulk inventories, and intercompany transfers.
- Confers with department supervisors and lead persons to determine status of daily assignments.
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Prepares production reports.
- Monitors and implements plant safety program including:
- Train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness
- Monitoring that relevant safety information and equipment is accessible
- Ensuring chemicals are properly handled and stored
- Monitoring employees' use/wear proper protective gear
- Understands and assists in monitoring site security plan.
- Monitors manufacturing actual output vs schedules.
- Meets departmental goals, contributes to cost savings, and leads company initiatives.
- Document control - maintain a control system for all documents related to inventory.
- Participate in the company's daily/weekly operations planning meeting.
- Assist in conducting physical inventory as required.
- Conduct quality audits and maintain production records as required.
- Evaluate housekeeping, security, and quality levels on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed and operate in compliance with OSHA/DHS/DOJ/EPA and SDS Standards.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelors' degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
- 5 years experience in manufacturing management required.
- Knowledge of supply chain and order fulfillment required.
- Experience in the use of Chempax preferred.
- Able to communicate effectively with upper and lower management and employees.
- Strong ability in MS Office Suite.
- Able to work independently under minimum supervision.
- Self-driven for results and good follow-up skills.
