Job Description
Job Summary & Essential Functions: In a leadership capacity provide the support necessary to coordinate the movement of work orders through the manufacturing value streams. Responsible for ensuring that the value stream is operating according to the daily operation plan set forth by the dispatch list from Baan and the Value Stream Manager/Supervisor. This position requires a person with strong leadership skills who is self-motivated and has a positive energizing effect on others. This person will be a role model for safety, quality, 6S, and for taking ownership of delivering results. This position encompasses both production control and team leader responsibilities, at times contributing to actually manufacturing product.
Essential Functions
- Monitor employees’ daily quality, productivity and efficiency and provide assistance to improve overall performance.
- Report on status of jobs.
- Interface with all other support functions on movement of work in and out of the value stream as well as quality and tooling issues.
- Advise Value Stream Manager of any problems meeting production goals.
- Assign necessary personnel to complete production requirements.
- Consistently assess practices, processes and equipment and recommend changes to increase the value streams overall performance.
- Be responsible for and monitor the progress of the daily care and upkeep of equipment and tools used in the work center.
- Assist in the training of new employees and monitor new employees’ progress through the training process.
- Promote employee involvement in improvement programs and support of Company goals.
- Alert supervisor of needs to maintain required materials and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
- Utilize BAAN reporting sessions to monitor value stream demand and performance.
- Maintain Metrics used to track Value stream performance.
- Work with the Value Stream Manager’s to develop and implement annual training plans.
- Represent and advocate for the Company by following and enforcing the documented Company policies.
- Work to identify and match employee potentials to job opportunities where they may excel in order to sustain profitable growth.
- Coach and mentor employees as required.
- Participate in administration of disciplinary actions.
- Track employee performance over the evaluation period in order to provide substantive input into the annual evaluation documentation.
- Act as the Value Stream Manager in the event he/she is absent for the day or on vacation etc.
- Develop and implement countermeasures and action items to effectively address Value Stream performance issues.
- Directly supervises up to 20 employees assigned to the Value Stream.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work and assessing performance.
- Work closely with operators to verify correct jobs are being worked.
- Review Daily Dispatch List for errors and accuracy against jobs in work.
- Ensure all material, blueprints, tools, NC programs, etc. are available to value stream at the start of each new job.
- Maintain production flow and established TAKT times.
- Identify production delays in order to minimize the overall manufacturing cycle.
- Monitor all Material Review Request activity within assigned work area.
- Coordinate with Team Leaders on all activity within assigned work area to ensure accuracy of the Daily Dispatch List.
- Coordinate with previous and/or next work area support functions in order to ensure movement of the Work Orders as the jobs are completed. This also includes any transportation required to move the product to the next area.
- Collect work orders as required for planning changes per procedures.
- Work with Program Managers and Value Stream Management to manage customer expectations and provide better on-time delivery through accurate communication.
- Ability to understand and interrogate Baan item data and reporting sessions to manage the effectiveness of the MRP system is required.
- Able to troubleshoot PO entry vs. Baan schedule.
- Serve as the Baan Subject Matter Expert for the department.
- Interface with Customers.
- Manage a complex work statement or complex customer requirements.
- Mentor and coach new employees in the department.
- Develop and manage metrics for department.
- Serve as an Internal Auditor.
- At times the Manufacturing Production Leader may be asked to maintain cycle, flow and takt times in the value streams and perform actual hands on manufacturing of required products.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic word processing and spreadsheet capability required.

Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- H.S. Diploma required.
- Three to five years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Familiarity with MRP systems and production control is required.
