Summary:
The Production Inspector performs routine visual, mechanical and electrical inspection of printed circuit boards, systems and sub-assemblies at several points in the operation for quality in compliance with required standards.
Responsibilities:

  • Works from detailed Process Sheets, Visual Aid Packages, Engineering Change Orders, Production Change Notices, Critical Item List and other relevant written instructions
  • Inspects for proper positioning of components, soldering, markings and other various quality requirements related to various manufacturing technologies, which may include touch-up or defects found in the inspection process
  • Obtains the appropriate paperwork and necessary drawings for each job assignment and verifies the paperwork as the correct effective date
  • Verifies placement, polarity and labels on circuit boards
  • Uses Defect Code List to identify defects and route boards to rework/repair facilities
  • Performs minimal rework/repair duties as necessary
  • Performs minimal hand solder operations on printed circuit board assemblies
  • Completes necessary routing tasks per procedure
  • Enters board and/or systems quantities into the Baan ERP system
  • Inputs data into PFS
  • Performs duties under close supervision
  • Checks configuration on all assemblies
  • Participates in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering as appropriate
  • Follows and maintains accurate process documentation and recommend improvements
  • Complies and follow all company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Utilize optical equipment to determine the acceptability of components and solder.
  • Operate the Nicolet X-ray machine and other sophisticated inspection equipment and interpret the results.
  • Utilize a majority of the inspection tools available on the production floor.
  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Performs job responsibilities with little to no supervision. Mentors coworkers in the inspection area and equipment.

Other information:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience of basic electronics manufacturing
  • May perform one or more of the following: PIR, WPI, FPI, AOI
  • 2+ years of advanced electronics inspection (i.e. AOI)
