Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Production Coordinator to support the Valued Specialty Material (VSM) Plant in Michigan Operations in Midland, Michigan.
About you
The Production Coordinator serves in the critical of managing, organizing, and optimizing the assets for 2901 and 3104 in the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective manner. The role as serves as a senior engineer mentor for advising on production, safety, and capital aspects within all of the Values Specialty Material (VSM) Plant within Michigan Operations. The role requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines and asset methods and chemistry to solve complex problems.
Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:
- Work with scheduler, area planner, GSCP's, product managers, maintenance, and plant operational resources to effectively plan and execute the production schedule for 2901 and 3104 production buildings within VSM Plant.
- Network with site and global PCs to optimize supply chain for 2901 and 3104 assets.
- Work with Production Team, Tech Center, Logistics, Supply Chain, and other SMEs to create improvements and compliance upgrades to 2901 and 3104 assets.
- Work as focal point for VSM for Productivity Team, and support VSM Plant steering team, procedure use, VSM RCI and CAPA.
- Mentors and leads co-op and interns working in VSM.
- Responsible for achieving plant goals of Production to Schedule, PSR, and Volume target goas for the 2901 and 3104 assets.
- Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
- Work with internal raw materials suppliers and external supplier purchasing teammates to determine best site and business solutions for raw material supply.
- Support commercialization of new products in VSM by collaborating with Commercialization Engineer, tech center, environmental and PR&D.
- Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized, and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
- Utilizes defined MET and challenges/escalates MET application and assumptions when better solutions arise.
- Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
- Diagnoses and documents root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
- Understands why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
- Acts as focal point for one or more key Operation Discipline Management Systems (ODMS) elements.
- Maintains, owns, and reviews weekly, monthly, and yearly Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
- Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Provides leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.
- Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.
Your preferred qualifications include:
- Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Mechanical or Material Science Engineering accepted.
- 5 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience preferred.
Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
- Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
- Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
