The Salesforce Developer Tooling and Experiences team builds the tools Salesforce’s customers use to build the Salesforce apps their businesses run on. This role is focused on bringing a best in class development experience for building, debugging, and testing applications in a modern development environment. We are looking for someone with a passion for modern development best practices who is comfortable with both highly technical customers as well as users brand new to writing code. Our team has a unique challenge to bring modern developer tooling to all Salesforce developers, those that have a been writing code their entire life, and expect Salesforce development tools to be as good as any other platform and those that have never used a modern development environment before. We have to make both users happy by providing a development experience that is easy to use and powerful.

To be successful in this role you need to have empathy for developers and get to know our customers pain points from day one. You should be comfortable with conducting user interviews and finding common themes to drive a prioritized roadmap that balances solving current issues and building for the future. In turn you will be responsible for driving that roadmap with your engineering team and ensuring that team understands not only “the what” but also “the why” of what they are building.

Salesforce Developer Experience PMs become the face of their products, you will be expected to build demos, with the help of developer evangelism, and present your product both in small customer meetings, as well as on stage at one of Salesforce’s many events.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage customers, partners and internal stakeholders to determine business requirements, technical considerations and strategic objectives for the next generation of Salesforce Developer tools.

  • Design and manage the roadmap. Make tough tactical prioritization decisions while helping the company think long term. Build trust with stakeholders and your engineering counterparts by maintaining an understandable, accurate roadmap.

  • Use your influencing and communication skills to share and align your strategy across the greater PM team and overall product strategy.

  • Work with product and developer marketing teams to create product collateral, presentations, demos, and sales tools to support the launch of new products and new product features.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Salesforce developer tools across the organization and externally.
  • Work with your peer engineering, UX, and documentation leaders to achieve high performance teams that balance innovation, supportability and reliability.
  • Manage and nurture a highly visible open source project with community contributors, issues, and releases.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in product management (or equivalent) working with technical products.
  • Experience interacting with developers and building out application prototypes with engineers.
  • Motivated by solving complex problems and bringing order & structure to ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to influence and coordinate cross-organization teams to execute important company priorities.
  • Desire to market products and features through blogs, events, podcasts and other mediums.
  • Ability to communicate to various stakeholders ranging from tactical technical detail to high level strategy.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, participating in new product launches, and handling sensitive customer escalations.

Preferred:
  • Experience building applications on the Salesforce platform with both clicks and code
  • Experience shipping products or services for developers
  • Strong user experience/design sense
  • Experience managing teams using agile/scrum methodologies MBA, Computer Science degree, or equivalent
