We are looking for an outstanding Product Manager to join a high-performance team of PMs, designers, program managers, and engineers whose mission is to deliver pre-packaged, vertical-specific analytics solutions to clients in public administration, assessment and tax, courts and justice, community development, and public safety. Our solutions are used by hundreds of government leaders to help them visualize their operations, identify what works and what doesn’t, and make data-informed decisions to improve service to the public, and ultimately mission outcomes.

You will lead the development, maintenance, and market success of our analytics solutions portfolio in Community Development as well as Property Assessment & Tax. These are vital local government functions that cover permitting, business licensing, planning, code enforcement, land development, commercial and residential property assessment, and property tax. All of these functions, enabled by Tyler’s back-office systems, are key to the economic vitality of the communities our clients serve, and require purpose-built analytics to deliver relevant and actionable insights that drive better outcomes.

Responsibilities

What you will do…

  • Develop, synthesize and communicate the product-market vision, priorities, and success metrics for the Community Development and Property Analytics Portfolio.
  • Partner with design and PM team to maintain a well thought-out and executable roadmap with an actionable backlog for developers.
  • Frequently engage with clients, as design partners, to enhance product-market fit and increase the resonance of our solutions with our users.
  • Discover and validate new use cases that deliver higher-value insights to our users.
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams across Tyler to develop a compelling market story for our solutions and enable our client-facing teams to deliver that story credibly.
  • Be a champion for agile product development and the continuous improvement of the product development process.
  • Oversee development projects - from ideation to decomposition and estimation - to set engineers up to ship value on schedule.
  • Ensure project flow by driving research and analysis needed to identify and manage risks and challenges related to client adoption, user experience, and technical development.
  • Groom the product backlog balancing new feature development, bug triage and technical work to drive both new client growth and existing client retention.
  • Communicate information in the form of User Stories that support user needs, program functions, test cases and steps required to develop or modify systems.
  • Track and continuously analyze sales data and product instrumentation data in order to improve our win rates, as well as user adoption.
Qualifications

You will be very successful here if you have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in product management.
  • Affinity for our mission, and passion for data as an enabler of innovation (a must).
  • Natural empathy for clients and users. Curious about their problems and unafraid to engage them as design partners (also, a must).
  • Demonstrable commitment to shipping, with a low tolerance for distractions and noise.
  • A growth mindset as an individual and for your team, coupled with high standards for quality and self-accountability.
  • Proven competence in Agile software development.
  • A track record of healthy collaboration with designers, PMs, and business stakeholders.• Attention to details and results.
  • A resourceful and pragmatic problem-solving approach• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to translate technical data into actionable insight to general audiences.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and to manage multiple competing tasks with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to weigh and explain product decisions in business terms

It would be awesome if you also have…

  • Experience in the Community Development domain (permitting, licensing, planning, code enforcement, environmental health) or the Appraisal and Tax domain.
  • Experience in the GIS world with a good technical foundation.
  • Shipped software that has achieved scale.
