The Role

We are looking for an intern to join our product analytics team this summer. If you want to apply your love of statistics and digital media to product development and business decisions this might be right for you! To qualify, you must be enrolled & returning to school upon completion of the internship. You will most likely be writing SQL during this internship, so please bring knowledge of the main principles and a desire to learn more. We are true hybrids - software engineers, statisticians, mathematicians, domain experts & analysts - who specialize in translating questions into methodical approaches, experiments, & products. We think deeply about the limitations of data, & communicate our output coherently. Product analytics as part of the data team focuses on using data-driven methods and experiments to power decisions, inform strategy, build robust data products, and identify opportunities for innovation across the company. We make data-informed recommendations to our partners in product, engineering, business, and content to help them understand our web & app products, and how users journey through them.

You Will

Work with a mentor on the product analytics team to identify a project (or set of smaller projects), that will have a real impact on our product strategy. Some possible areas of application may be in user segmentation, predictive modeling, retention analysis and/or experimental design (A/B testing).Learn about BuzzFeed's data summer internship program here!
