BNY Mellon Data Studio is a large part of the DNA product suite providing users with intuitive ways to glean value from their data by leveraging BI, Knowledge Graphs, Machine Learning and AI. We are very much at the beginning stages of a long journey.
We are seeking Full Stack Engineers of all levels (Jr-to-Principal Level) to help Architect/Design/Implement/Innovate Studio. You will use the latest technologies from Mobile to Cloud to create amazing customer focused SaaS products. Come help us re-imagine our solutions to provide world-class, best of breed solutions to delight our customers.

Our tech stack is: Python, JavaScript (Angular), Java, JSON Rest services. The Studio platform runs in the Azure cloud and leverages cloud-based technologies like Cosmos, Snowflake, Service Bus, Event Hub, Redis, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Spark, AzureML. We have a sophisticated CI/CD environment incorporating the latest DevOps technologies and best practices.

What You Will Do

• Own the code. You will be entrusted to bring forth unique/innovative solutions to challenging problems and own them from ideation through implementation.
• Work with Product Management, User Experience and clients to understand requirements and drive feature development
• Within an Agile environment, own the design, development, maintenance, testing strategy, and operations of API services written primarily in Python with SQL and NoSQL databases hosted in Azure.
• Care about agility and scalability – we work in a CI/CD environment and roll out products very quickly and we are building teams that can pivot quickly.
• Work with your team on design sessions and ensure your team delivers high quality work that aligns with BNY Mellon’s engineering strategy.
• Collaborate with engineering leads across the Data and Analytics solutions to define milestones and deliveries for new functionality as well as enhancements

You will be Successful If You:

• Have deep architectural knowledge of programming, design principles and data structures
• Design code that can be changed/refactored easily. This includes not only a design that allows for it but the unit tests to prove nothing will break
• Have experience in multiple languages and can articulate what you like/don’t like about them
• Have experience with distributed and big data computing technologies and Platforms
• Understand the importance of tests and CI/CD pipelines, SaaS technologies, and public cloud providers such as Azure or AWS.

Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support for backed features and components. Scaling the backend architecture and codebase to support growth. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Stays abreast of emerging technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Mentors junior level engineers. Prior experience with using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of a backend development language required (i.e. C#, Java) S/he must have knowledge about the functions and features of modern and traditional structured methods for developing applications. Communications and organization skills; team work skills ; possess strong interpersonal skills to support mentoring.

QualificationsMODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
9-11 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Extensive experience with developing and supporting back-end development required. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.
