Principal Software Engineer

IHS Markit is in search of a Principal Software Engineer. The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of internal and external applications utilizing the latest technologies.

What You'll Do

• Ability to lead and mentor the software development team

• Collaborate with development team and product management on design and development of new and existing software products

• Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve development efficiency

• Mentor and encourage team members to utilize effective design techniques for maintainability, testability, scalability, performance, security, etc.

• Work closely with analysts and technical architects on a global team to gather business requirements, develop and deliver highly scalable applications

• Quickly understand system architecture and become involved in design and development, taking ownership of assigned modules to drive projects to completion

• Validate developed solutions to ensure that requirements are met and the results meet the business needs

• Provide technical direction and training to more Senior Software development personnel with industry best practices

• Establish and maintain Continuous Deployment methodologies including working with SQA teams to enforce unit and automated testing

• Apply agile philosophy to continually improve team and organization performance

What You Need to Get the Job Done

• Masters or Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

• Eight (8) or more years of increasing responsibility in technical roles, with 3 or more years of experience as a development lead in an agile environment

• Excellent business judgement, you know how to prioritize, when to collaborate and when to seek assistance

• Real-World experience architecting and developing applications using Angular

• Experience in Microservice architecture and development including REST based APIs using C# .Net/Core

• Strong inter-personal skills and required. Ability to multitask and prioritize work for a team of developers of varied experience level in alignment with business line objectives and technical requirements

• Must work effectively with stakeholders and extended team spread across globe

• Strong leadership skills and interest in developing and motivating team members

• Open minded, flexible and willing to adapt to changing situations

• Focused on developing a highly productive agile team

• Knowledge of Agile development methodology

• Aware of Test Driven Development & Continuous Integration

• Solid understanding of OOP principles

• Experience in .Net and its languages (C# and Typescript)

• Solid SQL background

• Solid understanding of micro services and Rest API’s

• Worked in agile environment

• Diagnosis skills & knowledge of refactoring techniques

Technical Skills

• Typescript, JavaScript, AngularJS, Angular 2+, ES6, JQuery

• .NET, C#, ASP.NET MVC5, .NET Core, Web API, LINQ, Powershell

• HTML5, CSS3, LESS, SASS, Bootstrap

• REST, JSON

• SQL Server

• VS Code, Visual studio 2017
