In MsD, the Enterprise 360 team is uniquely positioned to contribute to Microsoft’s digital transformation by reinventing the fabric to connect, host and support enterprise services and customer engagement infrastructure that are the bedrock of our company. The digital enterprise demands cloud scale data services that consolidate data silos into intelligent quality analytics, deeply integrated into processes and workflows. A key initiative within E360 is ‘Intelligent Infrastructure’ that leverages big data, AI/ML, automation, and modern DevOps practices to infuse our enterprise infrastructure with autonomous, proactive optimization & self-healing capabilities. Intelligent Infrastructure is a large, cross-E360 initiative that brings together multiple E360’s engineering investments and Microsoft’s cloud offerings to achieve this goal.
As a Service Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in this effort and own several critical manageability platforms & services. Your team of software and service engineers will manage and build these platforms and services, producing reusable code and data artifacts and contribute towards a blueprint for global enterprises undergoing digitalization of their own infrastructure. This job also includes direct involvement and leadership of strategic and design partnerships with multiple teams including product teams, supporting infrastructure and security teams, and service/project management teams across Microsoft. This role is in a highly dynamic environment with the potential to directly impact the work of Microsoft employees around the world. Responsibilities
  • Hire, lead and grow a talented team of engineers in support of enterprise infrastructure manageability services and applications.
  • Lead the design and development of large-scale distributed software and cloud services solutions.
  • Accountable for operational performance including development of data driven business metrics, escalation, and communication with internal teams.
  • Champion security, compliance, reliability, and availability through participation in service health reviews and cross-team strategic/service alignment
  • Drive modern software engineering practices through code and design reviews, and by using data/telemetry to make decisions.
  • Innovate end-to-end and stay informed on industry trends in your space.
  • Build positive relationships and deliver results in cross-group projects.
Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent alternative skills and/or practical experience
  • 8 years minimum experience in Service or Software Engineering in infrastructure or cloud services.

Preferred,
  • Track record of hiring and building a high performing, cohesive team where diversity is valued.
  • Prior experience with infrastructure manageability solutions (Azure Monitor, Azure Sentinel, SevOne, SMARTs, Ansible)
  • Experience developing solutions in cloud environments with microservices/PaaS.
  • Experience implementing service health measurement and improvement processes and frameworks.
  • Prior experience with data projects including telemetry collection, metrics development, data visualization and AI/ML.
  • 3+ years of experience scripting and/or coding in C#, PowerShell, JavaScript, Python
  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration and partnership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior executives and customers.
