University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians) is seeking a Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) to serve as the full time (1.0 FTE) Medical Director for the Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC) in Bloomington, MN.

The role of Medical Director held by University of Minnesota Family Physicians supervises the medical providers at CUHCC and holds five major areas of responsibilities to ensure that the clinic meets the needs of its communities by meeting revenue projections and ensuring high quality primary care services that are compliant with federal regulations:

Productivity: Assure that visit targets are met in terms of productivity to ensure CUHCC’s financial sustainability and to ensure access to timely care for patients.

Quality: Assure that high quality services are provided by all medical providers as exhibited through peer review, patient satisfaction, incident reports, clinical indicators, and auditing of clinical procedures and protocols.

Compliance: Ensure proper and documentation of medical services rendered that is consistent with federal and state requirements.

Strategic Initiatives: Lead medical providers in fulfilling CUHCC’s strategic plan, which includes the development of integrated care teams with other clinical leadership to promote seamless care for CUHCC’s patient populations, and the development of continuity of care rotations for medical residents and medical student placements.

Direct Patient Care: Provision of episodic, preventive and chronic medical care for adults and children at the clinic standard productivity rate.

To measure progress towards meeting these major responsibilities, the Medical Director and the Clinical Director will develop an annual work plan that outlines action steps and measures to ensure that CUHCC meets its target goals in revenue, quality, compliance and in moving forward on its strategic initiatives.

About CUHCC:

A co-applicant with the University of Minnesota, Community-University Health Care Center is a Federally Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) as defined under the 330 Public Health Services Act. As an FQHC, CUHCC must provide a scope and breadth of primary care services to its medically underserved populations. CUHCC provides medical, dental and mental health care, legal services, advocacy for domestic abuse and sexual assault, and much more—all in one place.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Primary Care (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) residency program.
  • Board eligible/certified.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years practice experience plus five years increasingly complex management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting, direct people and services toward desired care outcomes, and incorporate community health concerns with primary care delivery system.
  • Conceptual understanding and demonstrated work experience in training and research.
  • Effective leader with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and community leaders.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency with diverse populations.
