Position Objective:
This position assists in all phases of patient accounts operations to ensure the realization of the financial goals of the facility.
Essential Job Duties:

- Verifies 100% of appropriate insurance coverage, correcting information as necessary, by contacting insurance companies, according to departmental policy and insurance contracts on a daily basis within 24 hours upon receipt.
- Maintains a close interdepartmental working relationship with Utilization Review, Financial Counselors and Financial Advocates.
- Conducts pre-registration for surgical services.
- Ensures 100% of all inpatient, surgery services, specialty and observation cases are verified and authorized.
- Immediately notify Financial Counselor and Financial Advocates of accounts where a high deductible, copay, co-insurance, etc. is due for all cases immediately upon receipt of said information.
- Immediately notifies the Financial Counselor and / or Advocate when insurance coverage is inadequate or has been terminated.
- Enters all information into EPIC System from insurance company correspondence confirming benefit information and authorization of dates of service.
- Acts as liaison with physician offices, insurance companies, internal and external departments, and patients as needed to complete registration, benefit collection and authorizations.
- Follows Standard Work daily as defined by Departmental Procedures.
10. Stays current with insurance changes for notification, authorization and coverage guidelines.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Numerical skills and previous CRT experience. Excellent communication skills.
Required License/Certifications:
- Requires a minimum of CRCS certification
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will not be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands - Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
