RMA is seeking a Prescription Coordinator to join our growing team in Basking Ridge, NJ. Scheduled hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. This position functions in an administrative capacity helping to ensure patients receive infertility medications in a timely manner. This individual is responsible for submitting prescriptions to the appropriate specialty pharmacy, coordinating referrals and authorizations and tracking all prescriptions ordered by the providers.
Responsibilities include:
- Gather required and appropriate information needed to expedite the ordering and delivering of patient’s medication necessary for their treatment cycles.
- Review prescriptions to ensure completeness (i.e. quantity, dosage, instructions). Verify that Rx is also locked by nurse and signed off by physician prior to submission.
- Verify that the correct formulary drug has been prescribed based on patient’s pharmacy benefit manager.
- Prioritize urgency of Rx based on patient start date.
- Send prescription to appropriate specialty pharmacy or non-specialty pharmacy.
- E-bridge any documentation sent along with Rx.
- Document all Rx related activities in the EMR.
- Maintain contact with Pharmacy/Insurance Carrier to request and obtain prior authorizations as required.
- Compile and submit medical records as required by certain insurance plans.
- Submit standard medical necessity letters and document appeal updates in progress notes to maintain accurate status of medication coverage.
- Triage calls/email correspondence from Pharmacies, Insurance and PBM carriers.
- Ensure that all self-pay patients have access to any promotions provided by the pharmaceutical companies to minimize out of pocket.
- Control and track all pharmaceutical promotional coupons, co-pay cards, to ensure they are in stock.
- Contact patients to inform of any updates with medications, or any pending insurance matters.
- Attempt to address any unresolved Rx related matters for which patients express concern.
- Maintain patient charting including timely documentation of all patient interactions.
Skill & Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
Fertility or Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
- Minimum 1-year pharmacy tech or coordinator experience with associate degree highly preferred
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office, standard office procedures and machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
- High level of listening skills. Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
- Aptitude to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed and some holidays.
