What You Will Do:
The Classroom Lead Teacher is responsible for the classroom which includes assessing children, ensuring treatment plans are carried out, and supervising the Classroom Teaching Assistants.
1. Manages all aspects of the classroom.
2. Assesses each EIDT child in his/her classroom using the proper assessment tool.
3. Assists in the development of each child’s Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP). Reviews the ITP and makes suggestions of changes to the Curriculum Coordinator. Ensures that the ITP is implemented to maximize the treatment of the children served.
4. Refers children for additional clinical services as needed (i.e., nutritional, medical, therapy and behavioral issues), in collaboration with the director and any other appropriate administrative staff.
5. Develops daily lesson plans and reviews these plans with classroom staff.
6. Ensures that required reports are updated, completed and turned in on time.
7. Ensures the completion of classroom billing via deTASO.
8. Maintains classroom supplies.
9. Ensures that visual supervision of the children is maintained at all times.
10. Ensures a positive emotional climate for the children by showing respect to children and adults through a willingness to help others, by maintaining harmonious interpersonal relations and through use of appropriate and approved discipline techniques.
11. Maintains an environment conducive to preventative discipline.
12. Speaks in a well modulated, pleasant and caring voice to children, parents and staff.
13. Attends and actively participates in job-related center functions.
14. Represents the program to parents, visitors and the public in a positive way.
15. Ensures that a clean, safe, healthy and sanitary learning environment is maintained and that children are kept clean, clothing is changed when necessary, and toys and other materials are disinfected each day.
16. During periods of physical activity, ensures that active involvement is maintained with children to promote gross and fine motor development.
17. Immediately reports any information regarding health and safety concerns to the Assistant Director or Nurse.
18. Completes 15 hours of relevant and approved in-service trainings per fiscal year.
19. Is familiar with the company’s policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as those requirements set forth by regulatory agencies, including EIDT, AR Child Care Licensing, and the AR Health Department.
20. Displays concern for the rights of children and families served by the clinic.
21. Reports for work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding dress code.
22. Ensures confidentiality of children and employee information. Responds to internal and external requests for information according to clinic policy.
23. May be asked to perform some housekeeping/janitorial functions.
24. May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.
25. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
26. Completes tasks in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Preference: CDA
  • Preference: At least one year of successful classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Availability Monday through Friday, 8A - 5P
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
