Job Description
The Pre-Press Specialist is responsible for deciphering, evaluating, and interpreting the inner workings of customer orders to ensure proper printing of the order to meet customer expectations. This includes, preflight activities such as color corrections, color analysis, typesetting and ensures pre-printing QA SOPs are followed.

  • Evaluate and interpret customer orders to ensure proper printing of the order to meet customer expectations.

  • Communicates order problems with supervisors, leads, plate department, art department, customer service department and sales staff.
  • Provides feedback and makes suggestions to supervisors and leads concerning current or future workflow issues that may hinder our ability to meet customer expectations.
  • Obtain required signatures on orders over $500 as well as supervisor and second signatures on orders above $1,000 in compliance with the QA SOPs.
  • Previews all key account orders and all high dollar checklist to verify all aspects of the order are correct prior to setup on press.
  • Review all Redos and Rejects, verifying all aspects of the order are correct prior to setup on press.
  • Communicates with order departments to guarantee quality standards are being met.
  • Maintains Dies in correct locations.

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a strong understanding of press tooling and setup.
  • Must have an understanding of print layout, type and color
  • Working knowledge of OM and Sup Tool-Enterprise
  • Understanding of pre-press terminology
  • Ability to operate a spectrophotometer for measuring ink color output and consistency
  • Working knowledge of various commercial graphic art programs, high-end software, ink densities, tolling and flexographic printing/plates, and printing to process
  • good math skills - ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and effectively use measuring devices
