Advertised Job Summary
The Pre-Med Health Advisor assists students with preparing successfully competing for admissions to medical, dental, veterinary, and other health professional programs. Provides individualized and group advising, programming, and experiential learning opportunities. Maintains liaison roles with admissions officers and professionals in medical and health career fields as well as faculty, advisors, and campus partner offices on campus.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Masters degree plus 3 years experience, or Bachelors degree plus 5 years experience in career coaching/advising, academic advising, medical school admissions, or human resources in health profession settings.
Preferred Qualifications
Maintains expertise in the pre-med/health area. Familiarity with the various application services for professional & graduate programs ( AMCAS , AADSAS , AACOMAS , CASPA , PT- CAS , VMCAS , OTCAS ); excellent presentation skills for large and small groups; knowledge of student development relating to educational success; supervisory experience; excellent networking and advocating abilities; audience-adaptable communication skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Skills in advising, career coaching, program planning, relationship management, and facilitating learning experiences are necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Adept in facilitating connection and building community between students, alumni, medical/health professionals, and cross-campus partners. Aptitude for integrating education technology, social media, and content creation in professional development contexts.
