Job Summary
We are seeking a post-doctoral research scholar in support of the Transportation Systems Engineering discipline area in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The position will have an anticipated start date in 2022 (start date flexible) for one-year, renewable for up to a total of three years.
The scholar will work to conduct and oversee a diverse set of research activities in Traffic Simulation, Connected and Automated vehicles, Smart City development, and Machine Learning. The scholar will work with the CEE faculty on curriculum development for related graduate course material. The successful candidate will work in the research group of Prof. Michael Hunter (https://ce.gatech.edu/people/faculty/811/overview) and Dr. Angshuman Guin (https://its.ce.gatech.edu/). Potential activities include:
- Experimental data collection and analysis
- Development and use of Traffic Simulation, Digital Twins, etc.
- Development of applications to integrate simulation with real time data streams for Smart City and Digital Twin research
- Development and use of data analysis processing scripts (Python, R, etc.) for large datasets typical for Connected Vehicles and Traffic Operations
- Use of ML and other techniques for the optimization of system control, identification of incidents, modeling of user behavior (drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, AVs, etc.), data imputation, etc.
- Preparation of technical articles for publication in conferences and refereed journal publications
- Development of proposals for research support and funding
- Working with CEE faculty to aid in the development of curriculum material for graduate courses
- Gaining teaching experience with respect to the dissemination of course material at GT as well as partner institutions
PhD in Civil Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications- Deep expertise in Traffic Simulation,
- Research interest in the areas of Connected and Automated vehicles,
- Smart CIty development, and
- Machine Learning
