Job Description


Are you looking for an entry-level position that can open the door to a rewarding career with high earning potential and stability? TCI-Troy is seeking an eager can-doer to join team as a Porter as our current hire is leveling up through apprenticeship training. The Porter is a vital member of our team and is responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and providing general assistance in the shop.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean shop and campus grounds of service department daily to maintain an orderly, safe work environment according to company policy.
  • Develop or maintain a scheduled maintenance checklist for routine tasks.
  • Sort recyclables, non-recyclables, and scrap metal and haul to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Assist service techs as requested for safe and successful completion of their duties.
  • Pick up parts from suppliers as needed.
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.


Qualifications

Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record that allows insurability
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment is essential
  • Knowledge of shop safety policies and basic hand tool operation
  • Fork truck certification and/or heavy equipment operating experience is a plus
  • Ability to understand written directions and formulas to mix cleaning solutions and chemicals
  • Resourceful, collaborative team player who also thrives independently and can prioritize multiple projects with strong attention to detail
  • Professional presentation and emotional maturity represent the company favorably

  • Oral Comprehension and Expression - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to communicate information and ideas persuasively in speaking so others will understand.
  • Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand complex information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time independently in a fast-paced environment.
