Gelson’s Markets is well known for the cleanliness of our stores. As a Gelson’s Markets Porter you will be
responsible for performing maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the store to ensure that the store premises and fixtures are kept clean and sanitary. Regular maintenance and cleaning in all restrooms, sweeping, maintaining sweeping sheets, stripping, waxing and buffing the floors in all sales areas is required. The Porter must ensure that the store and surrounding areas are presentable and offer a positive working environment for employees and an excellent shopping experience for customers.

As a Gelson’s Markets Porter, you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Gelson’s Porter must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
All grocery department positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
Physical requirements:

• Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Reaching above and at shoulder level frequently
• Walking, standing, bending and twisting up to 6 hours per day
• Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
• Driving moving equipment (Pallet lifter)
• Working near hazardous machinery (Baler, power scrubber, buffer, pallet lifter)
• Walking on uneven surface
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes and cleaning solvents
• Exposure to noise (Equipment)
• Exposure to extremes in temperature (Coolers, freezers, outside temps)
• Working at heights (Ladders)
• Working with bio-hazards such as blood borne pathogens and sewage (Restrooms)
