The Policy & Procedure Specialist conducts research and performs interviews to gather information for documenting procedure manuals and bulletins. Maintain and utilize the established writing style for logical and clear documentation. Acts as a liaison to Corporate Compliance, Legal, Business Unit Leaders and other Subject Matter Experts to discuss the flow of information, understandability, and application of policies to Standard Operating Guidelines.
Principal Duties
- Develop, write and interpret instructions and procedure documents for the business groups supported in a timely manner (including manuals and bulletins).
- Work with the management team to update/maintain current manuals in the established writing style with a goal of 6 - 8 weeks turnaround time for updates. Keep history files of work performed.
- Work with Manager to coordinate publication of manuals/large projects (including hard copy and database distribution).
- Project-manage documentation projects; Follow assigned projects to completion.
- Gather information by conducting interviews with management and subject matter experts.
- Act as a liaison to Corporate Compliance, Legal, Senior Management, Business Unit Leaders and other Subject Matter Experts to discuss flow of information, understandability and application of policies to Standard Operating Guidelines.
- Make recommendations for change by using discretion and independent judgement to eliminate company risk and legal exposure.
- Perform peer edits of the work of other Policy & Procedure Specialists.
- Other duties as directed
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years policy/procedure writing and editing
- Financial or mortgage industry experience preferred
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong, persuasive and clear verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to interpret technical information to all levels of experience
- PC experience, MS Office Suite, Word, Excel
- Able to meet goals and deadlines in a fast-paced highly stressful environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- Motivated self-starter and able to perform under pressure
