Job Description
Basic Purpose
To assure specification product is packaged in a safe, sanitary and timely manner. To supervise the packers, operate the packing machine, and pack products according to schedule and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct pre-start safety and sanitation inspections per instructions and record results

Set up and start various conveyor belts and machinery

PMO / Supervisors
Select and properly thread packaging film into vertical form and fill machine

Assure that packaging machine is at proper settings and speeds and document
5
PMO / Supervisors
Assure that product weigh scales are in proper order and document
10
PMO / Supervisors
Assure proper code dates are on package and document
10
PMO / Supervisors
Make mechanical adjustments to machine to obtain proper parameters

PMO / Supervisors
Conduct various quality control checks per instruction and document

PMO / Supervisors
Identify and isolate out of specification finished goods

PMO / Supervisors
Write work orders for broken or unacceptable conditions

PMO / Supervisors
Keep work area neat and clean and perform preliminary clean-up of equipment at shutdown

Supervise packers and help to assign their duties

Train packers on packing policies, specifications and procedures

Follow GMP's, Food Safety Policies and Procedures

During Production

Before production begins verify that the line is set up with correct film.

Verify that correct code date is placed on the bags and cases

When line begins to pack confirm that the scales are set up with correct weight and within spec
15
PMO / Supervisors
Inform QC if metal detector alarm goes off and the bagger rejects 3 bags, inform maintenance if necessary

When changing from an allergen to non-allergen or from non-allergen (CODE B- same type of sanitation as allergen) follow the sanitation SOP (Note: Inform seasoning operator on 2nd floor packaging if changing to another seasoning or from salt to sea salt production so that proper changes are done.)
Follow proper color coding policy

Complete paperwork when running product containing an allergen (seasoning allergen film check for each packaging line running allergen- HACCP CCP2)

All Food Safety and/or Food Quality issues MUST be brought to the shift supervisor's attention. The Shift supervisor MUST then inform Shift manager and QC tech. QC will perform further investigation; if necessary product will be placed on hold, final disposition will be done by QC Manager and/or Plant Manager.

- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral instructions
- Ability to make simple math calculations and measurements
- Ability to use basic tools and make simple mechanical adjustments
- Willingness to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment
- Willingness to work independently with minimum instructions
- Willingness to work some weekends and overtime as needed
- Ability to read and speak basic English
- Adhere to all GMP Procedures
- Maintain records and communicate and correct out of control conditions
- Read and understand basic flow charts
- Wear all required protective equipment
- Obey all food and human safety rules and regulations
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
