Plumber


Purpose Statement

The role of plumber will maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gasses by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities. Duties may include performing daily plumbing operations, assisting and preparing our school facilities for activities and campus events, and working collaboratively with the custodian team, maintenance team and building team.

Hourly Wage: Plumber Utility = $16.10/hr, Plumber Journeyman = $21.60/hr, Plumber Masters = $25.30/hr

Minimum Qualifications
:

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in plumbing
  • Demonstrates a reasonable degree of computer proficiency


Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess [and maintain] a valid Class C Non-Commercial Driver's License.
  • Obtain a certified copy of your own driving record on our myMVD website and ATTACH the driving record to your application materials. A certified driving record is your official driving record certified by the Iowa DOT and can be used for official or legal purposes. The fee is $5.50 plus a $3 charge which includes a $1.50 online service fee and $1.50 credit card processing fee.


Essential Functions

  • Cleans and cares for district plumbing
  • Monitors activities in and around work areas for the purpose of preventing injuries and ensuring site safety
  • Performs minor, job related, maintenance on campus plumbing equipment, for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items
  • Prepares campus for daily operations for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and hazard free
  • Adjusts, repairs, and services plumbing equipment, as needed
  • Completes work orders as assigned in a timely manner
  • Maintains daily record of jobs completed
  • Recommends replacement purchases of equipment, as needed
  • Maintains a shop area for replacement parts; also a work area to repair items that cannot be repaired on school campuses
  • Serves on the on-call rotations, as directed by the Operations Department
  • Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors for the purpose of providing information, taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Informs site personnel for the purpose of providing information and direction regarding activities, safety issues and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment


Other Functions

  • Participate in training programs, department meetings, and special events as assigned
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work without close supervision
  • Demonstrates integrity and maintains confidentiality
  • Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and works well with other employees on jobs that require more than one person
  • Is respectful and appropriately interacts with staff, students, and visitors
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District safety program
  • Attends meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions
  • Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follow all district policies
  • Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit


Working Environment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Successful candidate is subject to post-offer pre-employment physical.

Work year established by the Superintendent; Salary according to schedule adopted annually.

Job performance will be evaluated annually, as per district policies and procedures
