Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Manager is responsible for the management, organization, and control of the production, warehousing and distribution activities of the company, ensuring efficient use of manpower, equipment, and materials. S/he achieves this through establishing strict compliance to regulatory requirements for operating the plant, and actively participating in the formulation and implementation of the production and logistics policies of the company. Essentially, s/he develops systems and processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Coordinate production planning such as production standards, product improvement, product development, financial impacts, personnel issues, material supply, and marketing and distribution with the Operations Manager and department managers to ensure the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Meet and exceed budgetary goals and expectations with the ability to be proactive in correcting issues and preventing problems.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Control and analyze losses due to QA rejection and damage, and coordinate with other departments on preventative measures.
  • Create procedures and systems for inspecting and reporting production and logistics operations such as operating costs, inventory control, staffing, physical plant layout and equipment performance.
  • Create and implement measures for increasing efficiency and profitability within the production and logistics process.
  • Mentor, develop & coach team members by creating a collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor team performance and conduct regular and timely appraisal for direct reports.
  • Stay up to date with the latest production trends, best practices and technology.
  • Implement company rules and regulations, as well as company safety and health programs.
  • Performs any and all other duties as deemed necessary by the company.
Others

  • Collaborate and initiate business meetings with direct reports, internal support functions and external clients to achieve desired results related to department’s projects.
  • Manage allocated budget for project/s and/or assigned brand/units/department.
  • Manage significant timelines and deliverables as agreed.
  • Handle confidently and skillfully all internal and external communications with all diverse ethnicities, cultures, races.
  • Attend/participate in meetings, conferences, company events and benchmarking or networking opportunities as needed
  • Perform other job/task or production, warehousing & distribution related assignments in order to develop one’s self and/or share one’s expertise resulting to support work efficiencies & productivity.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Food Technology or any equivalent related course
Experience


  • At least 3-5 years of progressive and extensive work experience in plant operations from manufacturing and/or foodservice industry, or any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, leading and motivating staff preferably in Production, Warehousing & Distribution.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications (BFQs)
  • Production, Warehouse & Distribution related training, licensing or certifications from organizations and/or the academe or any equivalent combination of education & experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
(Required Training, License & Certification)
  • Professional certifications preferred (at least any of these):
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification
    • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification
    • Good Housekeeping Practices (5S) certification
    • Certified Food Protection Managers (CFPMs) or Serv Safe Allergens

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties as necessary i.e. making copies, filing, etc.
  • Prepare department plans, objectives, goals, strategies and measures.
  • Prepare annual budget and manage operating expenses pertaining to brand assignment or assigned function.
  • Prepare management reports.
Other Qualifications

  • Computer Literacy:
    Proficient in MS Applications (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email, Teams, Zoom) and trainable in other software related to food analysis.
  • Physical Effort/Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will:
    • Stand/walk for the majority 90% of the scheduled work shift.
    • Lift, reach, pull, push, grasp and use hands frequently.
    • Bend and/or squat down for the majority of the scheduled shift.
    • Climb, stoop and/or kneel rarely.
    • Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Need to see well enough to differentiate product quality parameters, read/compose email, reports and use the computer and be proactive to customers’ feedback affecting quality.
    • Need to speak and hear well enough to give/receive instructions, feedback and communicate with employees, customers and partners/suppliers.
    • Be required to work irregular hours, varying work shifts schedules as necessary at work.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to:
    • Kitchen/production areas with extreme temperatures for product testing/development/training.
    • Support Center, manufacturing plants, warehouse and logistics work areas.
    • Store and vendor/supplier plant visits, as necessary.
    • Production and Store kitchen equipment
    • Hot and cold temperatures and a wet work area.
    • Wet and slippery floors.
    • Cleaning chemicals
    • Possible cuts and burns.
    • Moderate noise level when working in production, store and suppliers’ work environment.
