This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- The physician is expected to demonstrate advance competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychosocial status of the patients and play an active role in the multidisciplinary health care team, promote preventive measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his/her assigned panel of patients and patients assigned to other team members when circumstances requires.
- Coordinates care for patients throughout the continuum of care to assure the care is timely, appropriate, of high quality and cost effective. Provide professional assessment, coordination and planning of multiple health care services; provides ongoing evaluations of care management services. Safely prescribes interventions of treatments which may include the prescriptions of medications.
- Incumbent is responsible and accountable for the continuous and comprehensive healthcare management of a broad range of health services which include but not limited to promotion of health, prevention of illness and disability, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions/diseases, management of health care during the acute and chronic condition phases of illness. The incumbent will document on all examinations/procedures performed, in the patient's electronic medical record.
- The incumbent will be responsible to review documentation completed by Mid-Levels (PA/NP) on assigned patients on his/her panel.
- Accurately assesses the veterans ability to follow directions.
- Provides clear and concise instructions to veteran when appropriate.
- Listens to veterans concerns; involves veteran in decision making.
- Individualizes care to meet veterans needs and family responsibilities.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, may include extended hours and some Saturdays

Basic Requirements:- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
