DutiesSummary

The Salisbury VAMC is actively seeking a well-qualified Radiologist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to serve as a Staff Radiologist at the Salisbury VAMC Clinic.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide all general diagnostic services.
  • Establish imaging protocols, reviewing imaging requests, including utilization management ensuring appropriate preps and medication are ordered, technical oversight and feedback for the technologist performing the examinations, and overall safety of imaging patients including oversight of contrast administration and response to adverse patient reactions.
  • Interpretation and communication of imaging results including report entry into the digital medical record and verbal notification of critical findings.
  • Provide consultative service for referring physicians and provide comparative reports as requested and participate in clinical conferences and committees. The physician will participate in quality control /quality management including department and hospital level peer review activities.
  • Participate in quality control /quality management including department and hospital level peer review activities. The physician will be responsible for teaching house staff and medical students assigned to Imaging Service.
  • Teaching, research and administrative duties as assigned by the Chief, Imaging Service.

    QualificationsBasic Requirements:
    • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
    • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
    • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
    • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

    Preferred Experience: Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology

    Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

    Physical Requirements: Functional requirements include Light to Moderate Lifting (15 - 44 lbs.); Light Carrying (15 lbs. and under); use of fingers; both hands required; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Both eyes required Depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted).
