Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current and active TS/SCI clearance granted by the Department of Defense or an Intelligence Community agency. Must be able to pass a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.

We are seeking a highly motivated Photo Lead (West) to join our team. The Photo Lead (East) will be responsible for leading the development, planning, and organization of the overall technical photographic aspects of assignments in collaboration with officials who are responsible for project substance.

This position is with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Office of Corporate Communications' (OCC) providing Visual Communications Services. The Photo Lead (West) will be responsible for leading the development, planning, and organization of the overall technical photographic aspects of assignments in collaboration with officials who are responsible for project substance to meet the requirements. The Photo Lead plans and organizes the overall technical photographic coverage for a variety of events and developments and improvises photographic methods and techniques or selects and alters secondary photographic features (e.g. scenes, backgrounds, colors, lighting).

The Photo Lead uses their imagination and creative ability to implement NGA objectives within the capabilities and limitations of cameras and equipment, may exercise limited control over the substance of events to be photographed by staging actions, suggesting behavior of the principals, and rehearsing activities before photographs are taken.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Works with the Program Manager to select and manage professional talent.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of the Nikon Digital camera systems and Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud. Employees must be fully capable and qualified to perform metadata tagging, captioning, and metadata removal. This list of equipment and software shall be GFE and tracked by the Contractor.
  • Provide the processes (art, science and practice) of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, electronically by means of an image sensor, and the product (photographs) which are generated.
  • Required to load all photos into NGA OCC's Darkroom with proper metadata tags and captions.
  • Photographers must use the Nikon Digital camera systems and Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud software. The camera systems will be provided by the Government as government furnished equipment (GFE).
  • Photography caption writing.
  • Must provide approximately 1350 photography products each year. An approximate percentage is listed next to each type.
  • Visits and Events. (75%)
  • Studio Portraits. (20%)
  • Other (5%)

Required Qualifications:

  • Ten years of relevant experience in the career field of photography.
  • Experience with portrait and on-scene photography.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Management of photography delivery processes.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience photographing senior government officials and agency directors.

Education Qualifications:

Requires an Bachelor's Degree in Photography a related field and at least 10 years of related experience. Four (4) years of related experience may be substituted for a degree.

Years of Experience:

  • 14+ years w/ High School Diploma
  • 10+ years w/Bachelor's degree
