Title: Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant I

This position is scheduled in the Immediate Response Lab at The Christ Hospital, 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Job Overview: The Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant I will be responsible for performing pre-analytic processing of specimens; collecting specimens; accessions, labeling and distributing specimens; and performing clerical and miscellaneous duties. The Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant will be placed on a weekend, holiday, and call rotation.

We have an established career path for our Phlebotomist/Lab Assistants that will give them the opportunity to grow and develop in their field and increase their earning potential.

This position will also be responsible for:

• Obtaining blood specimens by venipuncture or skin punctures
• Following proper patient identification protocols and established blood collection protocols.
• Performing pre-analytical processing
• Processing a volume of specimens appropriate for the assigned work area.

Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent is preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Phlebotomy experience preferred. Ability to read and comprehend written information required; ability to effectively and efficiently perform a variety of job duties in a stressful, fast paced environment is required; Phlebotomy skills preferred; keyboarding skills preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
