Pharmacy Technician, Pool (St. Mary Medical Center)

The pool position has a minimum scheduling requirement of 2 weekends per month and 2 to 3 holidays per year. Additional shifts are available outside of the minimum scheduling requirement dependent upon the colleagues availability and the technician schedule. The pharmacy department is open 24 hours and technicians staff on all shifts (day, evening and night).
Assisting the pharmacist in medication distribution, managing automated dispensing cabinets, delivery of medications throughout the medical center and communicating with medical center colleagues in person and on the telephone.
Performs routine technical functions, including preparation of patient specific sterile products, repackaging and labeling of products, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Performs IV compounding demonstrating acceptable sterile technique.
Maintains automated medication dispensing machines, (Pyxis); restocking meds, insure accuracy of inventory, verify expiration dates.
Ordering, receiving and restocking of all medications, IV solutions and supplies for the Pharmacy.
Assists Pharmacist in responding to requests and needs of patients and hospital staff.
Conducts patient interview to obtain accurate medication history. Asks patient if they have any questions and relays patient questions to Pharmacist.
Pharmacy technicians are required to be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB).
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) certification within 3 months or currently enrolled in Pharmacy School Program
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree & 2-4 years experience
