Position Title: Pharmacy Technician
FTE Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)/40.0 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY: The pharmacy technician will work in an ambulatory care setting to provide support to pharmacist, clinic staff, and patients in order to facilitate patients getting the medications they need.
Required Education and Training / Knowledge and Skills:
- High school diploma or G.E.D., required
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate, required
- Six (6) months’ pharmacy technician experience in clinic or outpatient environment, required
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (“EMR”), eClinicalWorks (“eCW”) a plus
- Knowledge of medical, pharmaceutical terminology and inventory methodology
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Bilingual – English/Spanish, a plus
Essential Duties:
- Assists pharmacist and pharmacy students completing their professional rotations at Shalom.
- Completes refill requests from local pharmacies.
- Enrolls patients in patient assistance programs for their medications.
- Helps manage the 340B medication program.
- Accurately prepares prescriptions for pharmacist verification and according to providers’ orders.
- Bills for prescriptions through insurance or internally through EMR, as appropriate.
- Maintains inventory based on need and budget, including medications for COVID-19, as appropriate.
- Educates patients on how to use non-invasive devices to monitor chronic conditions.
- Maintains appropriate documentation in EMR (eClinicalWorks or “eCW”), pharmacy databases, and logs.
- Answers phones, schedules appointments for patients, and responds to patient requests, as appropriate.
