POSITION SUMMARY:The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing the pharmacy services during their shift to include staffing, overview of the technical staff, maintenance of the pharmacy standard of practice and adherence to the policies and procedures of the department.
POPULATION SERVED:Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Preparation & dispensing for all medications prescribed for all conditions/illnesses for an inpatient or outpatient of this facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews and interprets physician medication orders ensuring appropriate therapy.
- Ensures that the compounding and dispensing of all medications is accurate and timely.
- Actively participates in the pharmaceutical care of the patient to promote a positive outcome.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONSCurrent license to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited School of PharmacyOne year experience as a hospital pharmacist is preferred
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Ability to learn aseptic technique
Good judgment and decision making skills
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
Maintain pharmaceutical knowledge with continuing education
Ability to learn multiple computer skills
Ability to get along with co-workers in a positive manner
