Per Diem Shelter Worker

Job Summary

Multiple per diem shelter worker positions available working with homeless single adults. Shifts include: Daytime, evening, and overnights during both the weekdays at weekends at multiple different shelter sites, including Huntington, Bayshore, Brentwood and Port Jefferson. Responsibilities include: Building productive relationships with clients, ensuring proper boundaries with clients, serving meals to clients, conduct rounds for safety, maintain post assigned and ensure appropriate communication with other team members, transport clients in vans as needed, responsible for ensuring client safety at all times, proving crisis intervention an de-escalation techniques as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

High School Diploma or GED. Valid NY State Drivers License.

Prior experience working in a homeless shelter is preferred. Good interpersonal skills, teamwork, problem solving and flexibility are also required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.40 per hour

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Holidays
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekend availability

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to wear masks and provided with necessary PPE.

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
