Pellet Mill Operator

The Pellet Mill Operator processes feed by changing the feed from a meal form to a pellet form within the guidelines of EQMS. The individual is responsible for keeping the pelleting machine operating while feed is in source bins and destination bins are empty. The pellet mill operator must keep all applicable downstream production supplied with product and must know and understand the pellet system to operate it safely and efficiently. The operator must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) including housekeeping guidelines.

Hours: 2pm-11pm

Wage: $19.64 plus shift differential

$1,000 HIRING BONUS: $250 sign-on bonus (payable after 30 days of employment) and $750 retention after 6 months

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

  • 18 years or older

  • 6+ months of manufacturing experience

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experiences:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1+ years of continuous prior experience in any industry

  • Self-Reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision

  • Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems

  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators

  • Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team

  • Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule

  • Knowledge of various pieces of high tech manufacturing processing and packaging equipment. Examples include but not limited to baggers, palletizers and cookers.

  • Ability to follow manufacturer’s specifications and directions

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day

  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks

Physical Requirements for production positions regularly include:

  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment

  • Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present

  • Shift schedules that include days, nights, and weekends, some holidays and periodic overtime
