Position Summary:
Position will be scheduled for weekend coverage. Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to register patients, obtain necessary authorizations, verify the patient has a source of funding to cover services, and schedule patients for surgery. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves any identified issues. Required Qualifications:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system
- Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage
- General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes
- Must be able to travel to off site physician practices
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology
- Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical scheduling
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Familiarity of Joint Commission standards
- Experience with Epic
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
