PURPOSE

As a member of the Accounting department, the Payroll Supervisor supervises and organizes the daily activities of the Payroll team in order to ensure the payroll processes are completed accurately, timely and in compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations. Assists the Finance Controller in achieving all departmental goals including labor and payroll reporting, month end close processes, payroll related journal entries, and account reconciliations. Works closely with Human Resources and other departments to achieve goals. Responsible for a high level of guest service as described in the minimum guest service expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll disbursements.
  • Stay current on all payroll related regulatory issues.
  • Make recommendations for updates to the payroll system and or processes.
  • Ensure Payroll system is current with all updates.
  • Ensure setup of system is correct and act as functional expert for the system.
  • Leverage all aspects of the system to ensure processes are accurate, compliant, incorporate “best practices”.
  • Process, maintain and audit accurate and timely payment of payroll related taxes and withholdings and 401k contributions.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reporting including general ledger, W-2 and 941s.
  • Perform quarterly and annual balancing and reconciliation process.
  • Work with external agencies/vendors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform General Ledger reconciliations for all payroll and benefit related accounts.
  • Prepare/review journal entries for actuals and accruals.
  • Manage reconciliation of employee receivables.
  • Supervise, develop, train and motivate payroll team to accomplish established goals and objectives and optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain Payroll Policies & Procedures. Review and document payroll processes and recommend improvements.
  • Resolve departmental payroll issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate information with outside vendors and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings to improve processes.
  • Backup and assist other Accounting department personnel as needed to meet deadlines.

. Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or must obtain within one (1) year of employment start.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of payroll experience processing large payroll (>800 employees).
  • In depth knowledge of payroll administration processes, procedures and best practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and tax laws and regulations.
  • Expertise in benefit enrollment for Medical, Dental, Vision and supplemental insurance plans.
  • Expertise in General Ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and preparation/review of journal entries, including accrual calculations.
  • In depth understanding of how payroll drives accounting and general ledger transactions.
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience or extensive knowledge of payroll operations plus comparable leadership experience or training.
  • Experience in processing of electronic tax filing.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel.
  • HRIS, ERP and payroll systems knowledge.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service, attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong analytical skills.

PREFERRED

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Snoqualmie Casino Career Development Track Series completion.


Snoqualmie Casino exercises Snoqualmie Tribal Member/Native American preference in hiring, in compliance with the Snoqualmie Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). You must obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Snoqualmie Gaming Commission.
