Job Description

The Payroll Coordinator will perform technical and complex payroll accounting activities. Responsibilities include preparation, maintenance, processing, analysis and auditing of manual and automated payroll data, information, records, and reports. This position will serve as a resource to Payroll team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll transactions and provide guidance on related payroll issues.

Essential Functions:
? Perform complex payroll support functions; calculate, review, verify and post a variety of payroll data such as gross pay, retirement, adjustments, retroactive payments, hours, tax information and leave accruals
Partner with team members to review, verify, audit and process payroll forms, records, and documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established standards, requirements, and procedures
Balance, reconcile and submit payrolls for check processing
Partner with the Payroll Manager and designees to coordinate electronic transfer of funds
Coordinate the processing of payroll deductions including monthly reconciliation for health benefits, disability, and Workers’ Compensation; verify proper authorizing signatures, coding and accuracy of payroll adjustments
Research, evaluate and ensure that payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner
Ensure receipt, processing and auditing of employee time and attendance information
Prepare reports and documents including requests from external auditors
Participate in the preparation and maintenance of records and reports related to payroll, employee information, time sheets, benefits, salaries, leave, taxes, deductions, garnishments, payments
Maintain and update data in the payroll system
Identify programming errors and collaborate with People Services and the software vendor to fix errors for accurate payroll processing
Collaborate with Finance team members to coordinate internal auditing, record-keeping and reporting functions to ensure proper application, calculation and reporting of payroll data, benefits and taxes
Collaborate with the Benefits team to evaluate benefit deductions, retirement saving contributions, and to verify proper record-keeping of deductions and compliance with current federal and state tax laws
Ensure procedures and methods are in place for information tracking and retrieval
Provide technical training and assistance to staff concerning payroll activities and related functions
Serve as a resource to staff and client companies regarding payroll functions
Distribute payroll-related documents and materials to employees
Administrative duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time

Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
Physical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs).
Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures. TRAVEL : Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required

Education
Completion of High School Diploma or GED

Degree
Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent work experience demonstrating applicable skills in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (equivalent experience is included in total years of professional experience) required

Minimum Qualification, Job Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

? 4 years of professional experience in Payroll, Accounting, or Finance
Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent work experience demonstrating applicable skills in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (equivalent experience is included in total years of professional experience) required
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
Proficient with payroll software (i.e. Paycom)
Highly skilled in system data manipulation and analysis, including spreadsheets
Highly Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong understanding of payroll processes and data analysis
Understanding of Human Resources employment laws and payroll tax laws
Project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work confidentially and with discretion
Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical users
Ability to work in team environments and with multiple levels of employees
Ability to learn new technologies
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize work and take initiative to improve processes
Self-sufficient and focused on excellent customer service
