Job Description

The Payroll Analyst an active role in the administration, auditing, and handling of items connected to payroll including but not limited to: calculating, keying, and balancing bi-weekly payroll and timesheets, paycheck calculations, creating reports for information pertaining to retirement and payroll, etc. The role also regularly interacts with external resources such as ADP as well as other members of the HR team, Finance team, and company employees and managers. Therefore, a high level of customer service, professionalism, and team work is required of this role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting bi-weekly timecard/payroll review, including manual check calculations
  • Reviewing payroll data for accuracy and facilitating corrections when needed
  • Reviewing payroll adjustment requests to ensure proper authorization and compliance with policies, employment tax & other payroll-related laws
  • Downloading and auditing payroll reports
  • Completing payroll tasks including, but not limited to, garnishment wage orders, escalations, incentives, and shift differentials
  • Administering accrual policies and audit accrual calculations
  • Entering changes to employee payroll records
  • Handling voluntary and involuntary deductions
  • Calculating recurring manual payroll adjustments
  • Assist with monthly, bi-annual, and annual bonus payout calculations and review
  • Providing external agencies timecard reports
  • Entering invoices
  • Understanding and adhering to established company policies
  • Researching and responding to employee payroll-related questions and issues
  • In partnership with HR management, help in the payroll reporting of the retirement program
  • Driving continuous improvement efforts to ensure consistently high customer service and efficiency in administration of payroll processes and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other discipline directly related to the position. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • Expert in Excel including v and h lookups, pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas
  • Process thinking
  • Able to operate independently and with discretion, work effectively under pressure, and maintain confidentiality
  • Orientation towards teamwork and customer service
  • Ability to successfully balance competing priorities and effectively manage workload
  • Understanding of wage and hour compliance as it relates to payroll operations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of internal and external colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders
