We are seeking a Patient Sitter who will provide close observation of patients under the supervision of an RN. Assist in the provision of a safe and clean environment. Promote the therapeutic milieu and the efficiency of the nursing team. Provide assistance with activities of daily living, unless the patient needs are such that adverse health consequences are predictable. Supports System and Nursing Strategic Plans, Relationship-Based Care, and Shared Leadership.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

• The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment and therapeutic milieu based on the age of the patients served.
• Accurately and efficiently complete assigned task
• Ability to organize and prioritize care of patient.
• Ability to understand and communicate using basic medical terminology.
• Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families and co-workers.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients.
• Engage use of Translator Services as needed to communicate with patients.
• Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient safety and or behavioral changes.
• Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Basic computer operation skills.
• Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Completion of AVADE 1 and 2 or like instruction and or completion within 30 days of hire
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• 1 year health care experience
• Training in nurses aid course or health care assistant
