Job Description

Job Summary

Patient Services Representative needed for a busy GI division. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. One year of medical office experience is required. The PSR will perform necessary activities to accommodate timely, efficient and courteous patient flow in the office.

The Raleigh Medical Group Gastroenterology division is a division of Raleigh Medical Group, P.A. which is a large, independent, multi-specialty group with several locations in the Triangle area. Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Answer and direct telephone calls from the physician/pharmacy telephone line, taking messages or paging the requested party as appropriate.
  • Greet and welcome patients/visitors and vendors, determine their needs and direct them accordingly.
  • Verify patient demographics and update patient demographics when necessary assuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Acknowledge patient appointments in the Phreesia system.
  • Schedule, cancel and reschedule appointments as appropriate with accuracy and completeness. Enter appointment recall information in the PM system for patients declining to schedule a follow-up appointment as noted by the physician.
  • Collect co-payments and balances due from patients at time of service in accordance with the financial policy of the Practice when required.
  • Notify the appropriate Patient Account Representative if the patient has billing issues per protocol.
  • Enter all payments collected in the Phreesia system. Provide patients a receipt for all payments collected.
  • Enter the Phreesia icon information provided by the patient into PM.
  • Obtain insurance eligibility information via the Phreesia system as required.
  • Reconcile all payments received and posted at end of day when appropriate. Secure all payments collected in designated location.
  • Attend departmental and practice/team meetings.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary customer service training.
  • Operate as part of a patient centered care team; interfaces with the clinical team to provide coordinated patient care.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
